About the company
A working metal shop, not a middleman
Schmick Industries Pty Ltd is an Australian proprietary company based in Western Australia. We fabricate, weld, machine and finish metal components for the plant, transport, marine and agricultural work that keeps the South West running.
What we are
Set up to take the awkward jobs
Plenty of suppliers will quote a clean production run of identical parts. Far fewer will take the bracket that snapped on a Friday, the guard that was never drawn, or the wear liner that has to fit a machine nobody has parts for any more.
That is the work we are built around. We keep cutting, forming, welding, machining and finishing in the one shop so an odd job does not have to travel between three trades and three quotes before anything gets made.
Everything we make is quoted in writing before it starts, with the material and the finish named — so you are not comparing our price against someone else's assumption.

How a job runs
Four steps, in order, every time
The sequence below is the whole process. It exists so nobody has to ring and ask where their part is.
-
Scope and drawing check
We look at what you have sent — a DXF, a PDF, a hand sketch or the failed part — and confirm the dimensions, the material and the finish before quoting. If something in the drawing will not work in steel, we say so now rather than after cutting.
-
Written quote and date
You get a fixed written quote naming the material grade, the process and the finish, with a realistic completion date. No verbal-only pricing and no surprise substitutions.
-
Fabricate, machine, finish
Cutting, forming, welding, machining and surface preparation happen in-house. If a job needs to move to a specialist process, we tell you that up front rather than absorbing it into a longer lead time.
-
Fit check and handover
Parts are checked against the drawing or the original sample before they leave. Where the part bolts onto plant we can attend the fit-up rather than hand you a component and hope.
Where we work
The South West and the corridor north
Our workshop is in Western Australia, postcode 6220. Workshop jobs come to us; breakdown and fit-up work goes out to site.
-
Resources & processing
Wear parts, liners, guarding, walkways and replacement sections for fixed plant and materials-handling equipment.
-
Transport & earthmoving
Trailer and body repairs, bucket and blade work, tow points, headboards and structural crack repair.
-
Marine & coastal
Stainless and aluminium fittings, frames and rails made and finished for a salt-air environment.
-
Agriculture
Implement repairs, header and seeder components, gates, frames and one-off parts for machinery no longer supported.
What we will not do
Straight answers cost less than a bad job
If a repair is not economic against a replacement, we will say so. If a component is safety-critical and outside what we can certify, we will tell you where it needs to go instead. If we cannot hit your date, you will hear it while you still have time to arrange something else.
